2 out of 5 stars Not for newcomers   August 28, 2010

To people thinking about coming back to FFXI:

1. Don't bother coming back unless you have WOTG expansion. People now level in the new areas 20+ which requires that expansion. The old cities are practically abandoned.
2. Level 75s now level in "Abyssea" zone to reach level 80. This zone is only accessible if you PAY. The in-game add-on known as Abyssea(aka expansion) is bought through PlayOnline for $10 (there are no software boxes released that you can buy in-store). Receive triple exp at ~600 for fast leveling. That addition IS NOT INCLUDED in this Ultimate Collection.
3. Remember, buying this Ultimate Collection with the three addons does not mean you can apply them to your account. If you have an old account you're reinstating, you'll have to purchase the 3 addons that come in this ultimate collection separately.

5 out of 5 stars Great Game. Don't buy it from Amazon   July 30, 2010

I would have been pretty satisfied if my package came a week later, but, Amazon and their advertising shoved Amazon.com PRIME into the free-shipping and at 2 days and waving the original fees, 9.99 for a DVD of three or four expansions was an excellent price!

I have played the game on and off for about several years and I dont have the original disc to play with. So, I consolidated my losses into one DVD rom. I got the DVD ROM on time after breaking open the packinging the thing would not work.

That's strange, I pulled it out, put it back in, Waitied and nothing. Is it my DVD Disc Drive? Put it in, wait, the light is flashing and nothing.

So, I get my hands on the manual disc, place it in and VOILA. Pops right up. Okay, so I figured I'd have some kind of solace in using the game on another PC. So, I put it into three other PCs with working old and new drives, and nothing.

You can paint me pretty frustrated at getting back a defective product and the turn around for amazon is a few days until I'd get a replacement. That is unnacceptable. They should return your product much sooner instead of shoving useless annual things for a service we won't use for one time buys. Amazon has lost my business in software, I am going to game stop or walmart.

3 out of 5 stars Nice game, Picky payment system   June 10, 2010

I really like Final fantasy XI. The game is nice. Since they require people to have visa (verified by visa) is much more complicated for people outside the US to play this game. Verified by visa or mastercard are not available in any bank in Chile. So, I cannot play.

2 out of 5 stars Takes forever!   June 8, 2010

The pros and cons of this game. One good thing about the game is there are alot of jobs to pick from like samurai, warrior, dark knight, ninja, ranger, summoner, etc. But each job will take you 1 or 2 months to level them to the max level 75.Thousand's of partys it will take you to level just one job!.If you want to get some side quest done first good luck! most of the side quest and missions take anywhere from 3 hours to a day to get 1 done.About 7 percent of the side quests and missions you can solo all of the others you need a full party and they are hard to get! very hard, most of the people in the game have done them and dont want to help.Dont even try the the expansions they are the hardest thing in this game to get help with. Now how about the items in the shops, alot of the good items, armor, weapons, etc cost so much new players will need to play for a month to get the gil to buy just 1 item.If you still want to buy this game after you read this the first week is fun because from level 1 to 20 is easy you can solo or party and get great exp,but after that soloing will take 5 hours or so to level up so if you get sick of the partys you can hack and slash all day to level up 2 times a day.Sorry i left out how great party are! not 7 out of 10 partys are bad alot of people in partys like to talk trash if you make 1 mistake or they talk forever about nothing so the texting on your screen gets in your way of seeing the battle.graphics 3/10 gameplay 2/10 fun 1/10 the only good rating i can give is the music 7/10.Hope this review helps.

5 out of 5 stars THE FAIR TRUTH   June 4, 2010
Mr. Dave (New York, NY)
This was the most epic game I've ever played. It was the openness and epic scale of WOW with the complexity and hardship of Final Fantasy classics - one would hope for such scope. But, it all happened - and it's over. If you didn't join by 2007, you could never catch up to the dynamic world which flourished in so many regards before you.

So now my point. If you want to join fellow Final Fantasy fans in epic journeys - like me, try Final Fantasy 14. Let's hope it's as good as this one was. ~Duellist.
